What is Canine Connections' training approach?
Our approach takes into account your needs as the owner and the personality of the dog. It is based on one of the six dog personalities (or combinations of personalities) as well as past and present behaviors of the dog. We do not believe in a "cookie-cutter" or that there is only one way to approach dog training. What may have worked for your neighbor's dog, may not work for yours. Understanding this, we adjust our training to the dog to achieve the best results possible.

How old should my dog be before it starts training?
Although we recommend beginning your dog's training as early as possible, dogs of all ages are able to learn. Most dogs are ready to begin training as early as 14 to 16 weeks of age. Upon completion of a pre-enrollment evaluation, we will advise you as to whether or not your dog is ready for training.

How much does your training cost?
Canine Connections has training programs and options to meet most budgets. The advantage of working one on one with a trainer is that each dog is approached and trained according to his/her personality type, behavior problems (if any), and family’s goals, thus making it more cost effective.
We provide program discounts for families who wish to have multiple dogs trained or have had a dog trained by Canine Connections in the past. We also offer discounts to Veterans. We will explain in detail your training options and the cost involved during your pre-enrollment evaluation.

What do you require in order to start training my dog?
We first require a pre-enrollment evaluation. This evaluation will help us to better understand your dog's behavior as well as get an understanding of what your goals are.
We will also require that you have proof that your dog is current on its vaccinations.
They may be other requirements, but they can depend on your specific training needs and they can be addressed during the evaluation.

What is puppy pre-school?
Puppy training begins the moment you bring your new puppy home. Every year more than 5 million pets are euthanized in this country, mostly by owners who got off to a bad start with a new pet. Our puppy preschool programs were established to help reduce this statistic and assist you in raising a well mannered family pet. We want to teach new puppy owners how they can influence and shape the behavior of their growing puppy. Whether or not you are enrolled in formal training, you are still directing behavior and establishing patterns in your dog's life. By not teaching or not setting limits your puppy understands, you are possibly contributing to future behavior patterns. Puppy preschool is designed to teach owners to better understand their puppy’s needs, establish effective communication, curb behavior problems, and to show owners how to properly socialize their new puppy.
Our puppy preschool program places a heavy emphasis on setting limits that your puppy can understand and on proper socialization to assist your puppy in the transition into a domesticated lifestyle. It is the first 16 weeks of a puppy's life that is most critical. It is in this period that most puppies can develop up to 90 percent of their attitudes toward people, other animals, and their environment. Our program is also designed for each individual puppy allowing you the one-on-one opportunity to ask questions that apply specifically to your puppy.
